San Diego, CA - June 25, 2004 - TargeGen, Inc., a biotechnology company focusing on edema, cardiovascular (ischemic) diseases and cancer, today announced the appointment of Sara A. Courtneidge, Ph.D. to its Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr. Courtneidge currently serves as Distinguished Scientific Investigator, Signal Regulation and Cancer, at The Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, MI. Previously, Dr. Courtneidge served as Vice President of Research and Chief Scientist at Sugen, Inc. Dr. Courtneidge earned her Ph.D. at the National Institute for Medical Research in London and served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Dr. Michael Bishop at The University of California. She later joined the European Molecular Biology Laboratory as Group Leader and later as Senior Scientist. “Given our core focus on kinase inhibitors and signal transduction in ischemic diseases and cancer, TargeGen will certainly benefit from Sara’s well recognized expertise in these fields as we develop additional clinical candidates.”
